Joshua
By Darcy
Afghan dogs are
beautiful creatures, but are not normally know for their intelligence. I think
my dog, Joshua, showed both intelligence and a sense of humour.
When he first came
to live with me, he was already a young adult and I was worried that he would be
lonely when I went out, so I thought I would get a babysitter to keep him
company. My sister graciously volunteered.
When I arrived
back after a rather long evening out, I found my sister sitting on the couch in
the exact same spot that I had left her. When she saw me, the poor girl made a
beeline for the bathroom. Apparently, rather than her attempting to baby-sit
Josh, Josh had baby-sat her. Whenever she even attempted to get up, he stared
her down and growled, so she would sit back down. For four hours she had sat on
the couch while Josh stood guard over her. This surprised me because he was a
gentle and rather silly dog.
A few days later,
Dawn came over to visit and I had Josh out in the back yard. When he saw
my sister sitting at the dining table sipping tea, he came right up to the
window and gave a little "grrrr" at her and walked away. I swear he was smiling
as he did this.
