Thanks to Jo Anne, Loki
(white-crowned
sparrow) has made a full recovery! |

As of today, Loki is thriving in his new environment at the Wildlife Rescue
Association of BC. The most exciting piece of news we have to report is that
Loki is now able to eat on his own. It is this ability to self-feed, that has
enabled him to gain more weight and become healthier. Another result of his
continued growth is that Loki is being moved to an aviary where he can interact
with other birds and learn to fly. It seems like our baby bird is no longer so!

On this beautiful summer day of July, everyone here at Wild Heart Ranch can’t
help but feel a tinge of sadness as our baby bird Loki has now left us. Under
the amazing care of Joanne, within the past two weeks, Loki has become strong
enough to experiment with flying and can now propel himself about a half a meter
into the air! Needless to say, our beloved bird had reached the point where he
needed the special care of professionals to develop his flying ability. It was
hard to say goodbye to Loki, as he had filled our office with so much excitement
and love, but everyone knew we had taken him as far as we could. As of today,
Loki resides at a nearby Wildlife Rescue Association and we plan on following
his progress to make sure our special bird grows to his full potential.
Once again, all credit must go to Joanne for Loki’s recovery. She was an
unbelievable mother to Loki; making sure to feed him every half hour and
consistently ensuring his safety. Through her incredible compassion and
kindness, Joanne has truly embraced a long running belief of Wild Heart Ranch
which is, “What is wild in nature, is what calls to our hearts.” Loki has had a
profound impact on our company and we will continue to look back on his presence
as a wonderful time at our business.
Even though Loki is gone, we will continue to post updates on his progress via
the Wildlife Rescue Association. If you want to know what kind of bird Loki
turns out to and how his flying advances, then keep checking in with our
